Midcoast Pursues RVSM Group Certification for Hawker 700s

Midcoast Aviation is developing an RVSM solution for Hawker 700 A and B operators and expects to receive group certification RVSM STC approval from the FAA early next year.

"We have partnered with Collins Avionics for the technical and equipment solution, and with KSR for flight test data and operator approval support," noted Wayne Hundsdorfer, director of corporate aviation sales at Midcoast. "The program began mid-July and we expect receipt of our group certification to coincide with the implementation of the European RVSM mandate of January 24, 2002."

Midcoast's initial group certification STC will apply to Hawker 700 aircraft equipped with modern Collins Pro Line II avionics suites. There are 213 Hawker 700s in service today.

The company also has earned an STC for the Mark VIII Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) for the Hawker 700.

"The RVSM package ranges from $50,000 to $250,000, depending upon the level of modification required, and takes one to four weeks for installation," Hundsdorfer noted.
