Midcoast Aviation Awarded Lear 35 12,000-Hour Inspection Contract

Midcoast Aviation has started 12,000-hour inspections on U.S. Air Force Lear 35 (C-21) aircraft under a new subcontract award by Raytheon, which maintains the Air Force fleet.

The service includes pylon inspection and subsequent repair, which is expected to be required on both commercial and government Lear 30 series aircraft in the near future. Bombardier Advisory Wire 53-003 notes the possibility of fatigue cracks occurring in the engine pylon beam shear web of Lear 30 series aircraft.

The 12,000-hour inspection can be performed at Midcoast's St. Louis Downtown Airport and Lambert Airport locations or at the Perryville, Mo. operation of its parent company, Sabreliner Corp., which absorbs maintenance and modification projects from Midcoast. The first has been completed and the second of the inspections has begun at Perryville.
